Carl Adams is one of the best-known coaches in the Americas. His contributions to the sport can be found at every level of wrestling. He has made major contributions as an author, inventor, coach, competitor and administrator for the sport of wrestling. He has written three very popular books on wrestling technique and philosophy. He is also the inventor of the Wrestling Takedown Machine, wrestling's most innovative training device. His instructional video series is the most popular ever for the sport of wrestling. Over 100,000 are being studied nationwide.

His Wrestling Schools have been the most popular in the country. His camp structure, quality of staff and the implementation of his programs, has taken camp operations to a whole new level. Over 19,000 wrestlers have attended Carl's World Class Wrestling Institute. Further, his camps are met with the highest possible approval from coaches, parents and young wrestlers from all over the country.

He has also lectured at over 300 camps and clinics around the country.

Wrestling Achievements

Carl Adams is a four-time national champion. He won two NCAA titles at Iowa State and two National Freestyle titles after college. He was a member of three NCAA Championship teams and a two time team captain at Iowa State. Carl was also a three time undefeated Midlands Champion. In Freestyle Wrestling, Carl was a three time world team member, competing in the World Championships, Pan American Games and the World Cup Championships. He placed high in all three events. In 1975 National Mat News named him Middle Weight of the Decade.

Coaching Achievements

Carl Adams has coached wrestlers who have won seven individual National Titles and 42 All American honors. His teams have won twelve College Conference titles. His teams at Boston University and Rhode Island at one point had gone 8 years without losing a conference duel meet. He has produced over 80 College Conference Champions and NCAA qualifiers. Amateur Wrestling News named him Rookie College Coach of the year in 1981 and he has been voted Conference Coach of the year on four occasions. Carl Adams is also a member of the Iowa State, Glend Brand Iowa, Midlands and the Massachusetts Wrestling Hall of Fame.
